2009 State Tournament

Lincoln East
Lincoln East was the Class A wildcard entry to State with a 17 - 5 record and was seeded #4. Drew entered the tournament averaging 16.6 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Spartans.

Drew scored 7 points in the first round loss to Omaha Bryan, 41 - 42. He also had 10 rebounds.


Lincoln High
The Links qualified for State by winning the A6 District and were seeded #6. Pete averaged 10.8 points and 7.8 rebounds for the 14 - 7 Links.

Lincoln High lost to Creighton Prep 47 - 49 in the opening round as Pete scored 2 points.



Lincoln Southwest

After winning the A1 District, Southwest was seeded #1 in the Class A tournament with a 21 - 2 record. Jake averaged 11.3 and 8.9 rebounds for the Silver Hawks.

Jake scored 16 points and pulled down 9 rebounds to lead the Hawks to a 60 - 49 win over Bellevue West.

Jake scored 4 points as Southwest defeated Omaha Bryan 60 - 58 in the semifinal.

Jake scored 9 points and had 12 rebounds, but the Silver Hawks lost in the finals, 31 - 34 in the championship.



Lincoln Southeast
The District A4 Chamipions, the Knights were the #2 seed in the Class A tournament with a 18 - 5 record. Taylor averaged 13 points and led the Knights in assists.

Taylor had 8 points and Southeast defeated Norfolk 63 - 49 in the first round.

The Knights defeated Omaha Bryan for third place -- Taylor scored 14 points.


Ralston
The B2 District Champions and the #1 seed in the Class B tournament, the Rams came in with a 20 - 4 record. Dwight scored an average of 13.1 and had 5.2 rebounds for the season.

Dwight scored 19 points as the Rams defeated McCook 68 - 57 in the first round.

Dwinght's 21 points paced Ralston to a 59 - 42 win over Sidney in the semifinals.

The Rams claimed the Class B Championship with a 61 - 49 victory over Beatrice. Dwight had 9 rebounds and 21 points.

The B2 District Champions and the #1 seed in the Class B tournament, the Rams came in with a 20 - 4 record. Greg averaged 18.6 points and 9.7 rebounds for the season.

Greg led the team with 27 points in the opening round 68 - 57 win over McCook.

Greg scored 14 as the Rams qualified for the championship with a 59 - 42 win over Sidney.

Greg finished his senior season as a State Champion. He led the Rams to a 61 - 49 win over Beatrice, putting up a game high 23 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.


2008 BISON WHITE PLAYERS AT STATE:



Beatrice
With an 18 - 2 record, Beatrice won the Class B1 District and was seeded #3 at State.

In the Orangemen's 34 - 33 win over Waverly in the first round, Trevor scored 14 points, including the game winning shot with 10 seconds left.

Trevor scored 14 as Beatrice won a chance at a repeat championship with a 48 - 40 win over Scottsbluff.

The Orangemen lost to Ralston in the championship game. Trevor scored 8 points.
Waverly
The Vikings were a wildcard entry to the tournament after completing a 17 - 5 record. They were the #6 seed.

In the opening round 33 - 34 loss to Beatrice, Tyler scored 20 points.
Norfolk
Norfolk was the A7 District Champion and the 7th seed with a 15 - 7 record. Brady was the assist leader for the Panthers and averaged 13 points.

Brady led Norfolk with 19 points, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers lost to Southeast, 49 - 63.


Omaha Bryan
The #5 seed in the tournament, Omaha Bryan was the A5 District Champion and finished the regular season with a 19 - 6 record. Ben averaged 12 points a game and recorded 77 assists on the season.

Ben scored 11 points in the Bears' first round 42 - 41 victory over Lincoln East, including 4 in points in the final 5 seconds to earn the win.

Ben netted 14 points in the semifinals, but the Bears came up short, losing to Lincoln Southwest, 58 - 60.


Chadron
Chadron qualified for State by winning the C1- 5 District, completing an undefeated 23 - 0 season and was seeded #1 in the tournament. Elliott averaged 14.8 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Chadron defeated Syracuse 53 - 40 in the first round. Elliot scored 4 points.

Even with sitting out a significant portion of the second half with foul trouble, Elliott put up 17 points to help the Cardinals defeat Bennington 58 - 45 to qualify for the championship.

Chadron came close, but Hastings St. Cecelia claimed the C1 title with a 61 - 58 win. Elliot had 9 rebounds and 17 points for the Cardinals.

Chadron qualified for State by winning the C1- 5 District, completing an undefeated 23 - 0 season and was seeded #1 in the tournament. Zac averaged 13.8 points and 3.2 rebounds on the season.

Chadron defeated Syracuse 53 - 40 in the first round with Zac leading the Cardinals with 19 points, including two three pointers. He also recorded 11 rebounds.

Zach went on a three point scoring spree that led Chadron to a 58 - 45 semifinal win over Bennington. He finished the game with 27 points.

Zach scored 16 points, but the Cardinals lost to Hastings St. Cecelia in the finals, 58 - 61.


Lincoln Southwest
After winning the A1 District, Southwest was seeded #1 in the Class A tournament with a 21 - 2 record. Jordan brought a 6 point and 3 rebound average to the tournament.

Jordan had 6 points in the Hawks first round 6- - 49 win over Bellevue West.

Jordan's 8 points helped the Silver Hawks advance to the championship game with a 60 - 58 win over Omaha Bryan.

Southwest lost to Creighton Prep in the finals. Jordan scored 2 points.


Lincoln High
The Links qualified for State by winning the A6 District and were seeded #6. Dylan averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds.

Dylan tallied 16 points and had 9 rebounds, but the Links lost to Creighton Prep, 47 - 49 in the first round.


2008 JUNIOR BISON PLAYERS (GOLD & BLUE TEAMS) AT STATE:

Cody Charlton, Lincoln Southeast -- Southeast defeated Norfolk 63 - 49 in round one Southeast lost to Creighton Prep, 41 - 61 in the second round. Southeast claimed 3rd place with a 62 - 55 win over Omaha Bryan.
Eric Donald, Omaha Creighton Prep -- Prep defeated Lincoln High 49 - 47 in the first round. Prep advanced to the finals with a 61 - 41 win over Lincoln Southeast. Prep claimed the Class A title, 34 - 31 over Lincoln Southwest.
Dylan Heath, Lincoln Southwest -- Southwest won 60 - 49 in round one over Bellevue West. The Silver Hawks defeated Omaha Bryan 60 - 58 in the semifinals. Lincoln Southwest lost to Creighton Prep, 31 - 34 in the finals.
Connor Larsen, McCook -- Connor averaged 10.9 points and 3..5 rebounds for theBison. Connor had 22 points, but McCook lost to Ralston 57 - 68 in round one.
Mickey Russell, Omaha Creighton Prep -- Prep defeated Lincoln High 49 - 47 in the first round. Prep advanced to the finals with a 61 - 41 win over Lincoln Southeast. Prep claimed the Class A title, 34 - 31 over Lincoln Southwest.
Connor Schultz, Pierce -- Pierce defeated Boys Town 61 - 41 in the opening round. Pierce was defeated by Hastings St. Cecelia, 39 - 46 in the semifinals. Pierce lost to Bennington 63 - 64 in the consolation game.
Derek Shouse, Lincoln Southeast -- Derek scored 37 points for the Knights during the season. Southeast defeated Norfolk 63 - 49 in round one. Southeast lost to Creighton Prep, 41 - 61 in the second round. Derek scored 6 points in Southeast's 62 - 55 defeat of Omaha Bryan in the consolation game.
Zach Sterup, Hastings St. Cecelia -- Zach scored 56 points for the BlueHawks during the season. Zach scored 11 in Hasting's first round 59 - 41 win over North Bend. The BlueHawks defeated Pierce, 46 - 39 in the semiginals. Zach scored 2 points as St. Cecelia claimed the Class C1 Championship, 61 - 58 over Chadron.
Derrius Vick, Lincoln Southeast -- Derrius averaged 12 points and 3 rebounds for the Knights. Southeast defeated Norfolk 63 - 49 in round one and Derrius scored 7 points. Derrius had 3 points in Southeast's semifinal 41 - 61 loss to Creighton Prep. The Knights defeated Omaha Bryan 62 - 55 for third place.
D. K. Augustine, Omaha Bryan --DK averaged 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds on the season. D.K. had 7 points in Bryan's 42 - 41 opening round win over East. D.K. put in 14 as the Bears lost in the semifinals to Lincoln Southwest, 58 - 60. DK put up 18 points in the consolation game, but Bryan lost to Southeast, 55 - 62.
Galen Gullie, Omaha Bryan -- Galen had 10.9 points and 3 rebounds per game for the Bears. Galen scored 5 in Bryan's first round win over East. Galen scored 15, but Bryan lost to Southwest, 58 - 60 in the semifinals. Galen scored 4 in the Bear's consolation loss to Lincoln Southeast, 55 - 62.
