| The NBDA was established in 1981 to promote the development and growth of basketball in the state of Nebraska through the process of state-wide tryouts. *Since 1981 the Senior All-Star Team has been represented from across the state by 66 coaches and 73 high schools. *Since 1991 the Junior All-Star Team has been represented from across the state by 38 coaches and 74 high schools. Players are chosen by a selection committee of the NBCA who evaluate players at the annual Junior Tournament. *Since 1997 the 16 and under All-Star Team has been represented from across the state by 16 coaches and 52 high schools. Senior and Sophomore athletes are nominated by NBCA coaches from across the state; the list is then narrowed down by the NBCA Board of Directors, NBCA representatives, and the all star coaches. The final tryout is held in Lincoln or Omaha the weekend after the state boys basketball tournament. Each of the tryouts will include as many as 50 athletes from across the state. The tryout process is evaluated by the NBDA/NBCA each year. It is the goal and intent of the organizations to ensure every tryout participant a fair and equal opportunity to be a member of the Bison All-Star Team. |
