The following is a summary of the rules which will be enforced during tournament play:
A. All games will start on time. Teams should be ready to play at the scheduled times. Any team not ready to play within five minutes of a scheduled game time will forfeit that game.
B. Each game shall be made up of two 8 minute quarters, and a 16 minute second half. The time clock will run continuously in the first two quarters, except for the last two minutes of each the first and second quarter. The clock will stop as in regular season play during the second half.
C. 25 Point Rule: A 25 point lead in the second half by any team will result in a running clock. The clock will stop only on called time-outs. Regulation clock will be re-instated if the loosing team gets back to within 15 points.
D. Each half time will last five minutes.
E. Each team will be allocated three full time-outs and two 30 second time-outs for the game.
F. One and one free throws will be shot after the fourth foul in the first and second quarters. In the second half regular high school rules will apply. One and one on the seventh team foul and two shots on the tenth foul.
G. Each player shall play at least one quarter per game. How this rule will apply: teams must play one five-player unit during the first quarter, and a totally different unit during the second quarter, assuring that each player on a 10 member roster will play one quarter in each game. Teams with 12 players must use a sixth player on each unit for at least three minutes during the quarter that unit plays. There are no restrictions during the second half of the game. If there are fewer than 10 players on a team for whatever reason, a two shot technical foul will be shot for each player missing that quarter and, the opposing coach will choose the player(s) to participate in that quarter. The opposing coach will name the designated player at the beginning of the each quarter. ALSO during the 2nd quarter, if the situation (INJURY, EXPULSION, FOULS, etc.) warrants it, the opposing coach will name a replacement player. The technical will be shot in the 2nd quarter. Standing rule: It will be up to the coach to notify the officials that the opposing team does not have enough players. If the coach does not notify the officials before the beginning of the game, then the opposing team can play who ever they want to.
H. Current 2008 National Federation of High School Interscholastic Basketball Rules shall apply. What that means is we are playing a regular basketball game with the exception of rule O and F.
