The Nebraska Bison Gold team competed in four tournaments in the summer of 2011, compiling an overall record of 15 - 5. The Golds finished 3rd in the CSS/MAYB tournament held in Lincoln, Nebraska from June 24 - 26, barely missing the championship game. On July 6th, the Golds began play in the Hoosier Shootout in Indianapolis, Indiana. After going undefeated in pool play, they won their first round of the tournament, but lost by four in the quarter finals to Nashville, Tennessee. In the Mullen High Profile Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri, the Nebraskans reached the semifinals with a 2 - 1 record in pool play and two tournament wins before losing to Heat Elite from Oklahoma 55 - 60. In the final tournament of the summer, the Best Buy Summer Classic in Bloomington, Minnesota, the Golds again posted a winning record, 2 - 0 in pool play and a first round tournament win. But their final game was a quarter final loss to Minnesota Pump n Run, 49 - 65.
